| Halfway between the seafront and the railway station stands the recently refurbished Victorian clocktower. Running due west from this, parallel with the seafront is Western Road, Brighton's main shopping area with the Churchill Square shopping mall at its eastern end. |  |

| Shopping at the mall is on two levels, with a further third top level devoted to cafés and restaurants. A lift runs between the levels in addition to escalators. |  |
